this place is so mine

it's a revolution

and i outrank you

&&&&&&&&&*****************&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

keep up with my word play
like the swordplay of yesterday
we joust and we fence
in our past lives and present tense
presently I'm tense
living in a forgiving house
naming my blame with white-hot flames
and putting it out with chemical doubt
dipping darts into poisoned words
sharpening stones and capturing birds
lashed to my arm to carry my whispered pain
carrying hate through stormclouds and rain
i live free on the wing
taken just as much as taking
writing songs for the caged bird to sing

there is no mystery if you know me
if you know you've "no'd" me
and all along i've been wronged by the knowing
i set fire to campus and college
writing the wrongs and hardened by knowledge
i'm the transgressor
the victim, the witness
the judge, the executor, and even the forgiveness
i'm the unwitting god
cast in morality's play
star of the night that defies your best day
i'm the blues in a song
i'm the fireman's sadness at the loss of life
i'm the lonliest words you'll ever hear
i'm the cut, i'm the knife

i'm a revolution of values
i'm a revolutionary
in the battle, on the field, i outrank you
i am the revolution
